The Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teaching and Teachers (ECET2) network was born out of a desire to provide a forum for exceptional teachers to learn from one another and to celebrate the teaching profession. The first national ECET2 convening was held in 2012, and nearly 200 educators attended. After that event, energized teachers began organizing local convenings to inform and inspire colleagues at home, develop attendees’ leadership potential, and hone their craft.
In Kentucky, The Fund hosted the Commonwealth’s first ECET2 KY in January of 2014. Teachers traveled from all over the state to gather in Lexington and celebrate their profession and the work of their peers. The event was a huge success, leading to the second ECET2 KY on January 30-31, 2015 in Louisville, Kentucky. With over 250 teachers in attendance, #ECET2KY was an even bigger success than the year before. The third ECET2 KY was on February 5 and 6 in Bowling Green, KY. Almost 200 teachers attended this event hosted by a group of teacher leaders from across the state. Check our our video from Year 2.
After a successful and inspiring statewide convening in January of 2014, Kentucky teachers were given the opportunity to host regional ECET2 KY conferences. The Fund facilitated four regional events (Green River, Ohio Valley, Central KY and Northern KY) on various Saturdays during the fall of 2014. The Fund continued this regional model as a way of reaching more teachers statewide in 2015 with 5 regional ECET meetings, hosted by groups of local teachers.
