You’ve probably seen the video and news stories showing the impact of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico. Schools and classrooms are flooded, or being used as shelters. Teachers and students who would normally be thinking about a new school year are thinking about their personal safety. Administrators are trying to get a handle on the needs of their buildings, their staff, and their students, and have delayed the start of school by at least a week.

We know you share our concern and compassion for the educators, students, and their families who have been impacted by these hurricanes. Given the historic impact of these hurricanes, Transform Education Kentucky wants to do whatever we can to help. And we know that Kentucky’s educators are interested in supporting their colleagues in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico. We’ve already reached out to several of our colleagues in affected areas, and have decided to create the TEK Hurricane Relief Fund. ¬†Educators in these areas will not know the full extent of damages, nor will they have a list of specific needs for several weeks. The TEK Hurricane Relief Fund will allow us to gather resources now, and disburse them later when specific needs are known.

Here are just a few of the organizations we’ll be working with to help schools, educators, and students recover from the damage done by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria:

Houston Independent School District Foundation

YES Prep Family Flood Relief Fund

Consortium of Florida Education Foundations
